Why we are here

Helping small businesses navigate a changing digital world.

As cyberattacks, online scams and AI-powered threats become increasingly sophisticated, small businesses face new challenges in protecting their information, customers and livelihoods.

At North East Cyber Safety, we believe every small business deserves access to clear, affordable and practical cybersecurity guidance. Our mission is to help sole traders and small teams understand their potential vulnerabilities, strengthen their digital resilience and build confidence in an ever-changing online world.

Through straightforward cyber safety reviews and personalised recommendations, we help businesses take practical steps towards a safer digital future.

A more useful starting point

Understand the basics.
Know what to do next.

We turn your answers into an easy-to-follow report. We don't inspect your systems or claim to certify that your business is secure.

Common questions

Good to know.

No jargon, no pressure and no access to your business systems.

Can everything be done remotely?

Yes. Send your enquiry online, pay through a secure link after we confirm the service, and complete the 24-question questionnaire in your browser. We send your personalised report by email within 5 working days of receiving your completed questionnaire.

How long will my review take?

We aim to email your personalised written report within 5 working days after receiving your completed online questionnaire. Working days exclude weekends and UK bank holidays.

Do I have to install anything or share passwords?

No. We do not connect to your computers or ask for passwords, verification codes, recovery keys, customer lists, financial records or confidential network information.

Will you tell me whether my computers have viruses?

No. A questionnaire cannot detect viruses, confirm active protection or prove that devices are free of malware. We can suggest sensible next steps based on your answers, and recommend qualified technical support where needed.

Is this the same as Cyber Essentials certification?

No. This is an independent, informal questionnaire-based advice service. It is not accredited by or affiliated with the National Cyber Security Centre and does not provide Cyber Essentials certification.

Who is this for?

Independent small businesses, sole traders and small teams who want a starting point for reviewing basic security habits. Businesses needing compliance audits, incident response, regulated-sector assessments or technical testing should use qualified specialists.

What happens if I don't know an answer?

Select “Not sure.” Your report can recommend how to find out, including when to ask your usual IT provider. We will not treat an unknown answer as evidence that a system is vulnerable.
